A skills course for union organisers and other paid officials involved in negotiating collective agreements. This two-day course uses an action methods approach focusing on building participants’ confidence and advocacy skills in collective agreements negotiations, using realistic simulated exercises.
Learning Outcomes:
· Practical information and skills for negotiating collective agreements will include:
· Organising around negotiations
· Different approaches to advocacy
· Recording and keeping track of discussions
· Role of the negotiations team and maintaining discipline
· Getting past ‘No’ and reaching agreement
· Tips for writing claims and settlements
Please note that this course is not approved for ERE leave. The minimum number for the course to go ahead is 10. Registrations will close 1 week from the course start date (if places are not filled prior).
Unions are asked to register no more than 5 participants per course unless by prior arrangement.
